Garbage woes: MP Pratap Simha to lead a delegation to CM

December 16, 2017

Mysuru: In a bid to find a lasting and scientific solution for solid waste disposal, MP Pratap Simha held a meeting with Corporators, officials, local people’s representatives and private organisations at the MCC Old Council Hall this morning.

Addressing the meeting, Pratap Simha called for ending the blame game over the issue. Pointing out that the city was generating nearly 450 tonnes of waste daily, the MP said he was willing to lead a delegation of city MLAs and Corporators to meet Chief Minister Siddharamaiah for considering a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model for appropriate waste disposal and management.

A representative of one of the organisations said at the meeting that his firm was ready to set up a waste disposal plant at a cost of Rs. 250 crore wherein energy can be generated and raw materials used in cement will also be manufactured for which the Union Government should grant 30 percent subsidy.
