December 24, 2025

Mysore/Mysuru: Cyber criminals have conned a city Gazetted Officer to the tune of Rs. 30 lakh on the pretext of online trading. The Gazetted Officer received a message containing a link for online trading which was sent from a WhatsApp number which had a photo of a person known to him.

The officer, who clicked on the link, opened a trading account and invested Rs. 20,000 initially for which he received a profit of Rs. 3,375 in two days. He then invested a total of Rs. 30 lakh in phases, thinking that he would get huge profit.

But as he was unable to withdraw the profit or his invested money, the officer, who came to know that he has been cheated, lodged a complaint at city’s CEN Police Station.
