Get set for host of events at Palace from Dec. 25

Mysore/Mysuru: The Flower Show at the Mysore Palace from Dec. 25 to Jan.2 will play host to many attractions as if to make up for last year’s no-show due to COVID pandemic. Even this year, the show is being conducted amidst Omicron scare and with over five lakh unvaccinated people in Mysuru.  Here is the list of attractions:

Dec. 25 (Saturday) – 4.30 pm

Flower Show inauguration by Mysuru District Minister S.T. Somashekar. MLA S.A. Ramdas presides. Mayor Sunanda Palanetra, Dy. Mayor Anwar Baig, MPs Pratap Simha, V. Sreenivasa Prasad and Sumalatha Ambarish chief guests.

All Mysuru MLAs, MLCs, Chairmen of various Boards and Corporations, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bagadi Gautham and Ward No. 51 Corporator B.V. Manjunath will be present.

6.30 pm to 7.15 pm: Cultural programme inauguration.

7.30 pm to 9.30 pm: Geetha Namana to late actor Puneeth Rajkumar by playback singer Vijay Prakash and troupe.

Dec. 26 (Sunday) – 7 pm to 9 pm

Music programme by playback singers Ajay Warier, Sriharsha, Vyasraj, Ankita Kundu, Sunitha Jogi and Divya Ramachandra.

Dec. 27 (Monday) – 7 pm to 9 pm

As part of 75th year of Indian Independence (Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav), vocal recital by Sangeetha Vidyanidhi Dr. Vidyabhushana; illustrations by National Award winning artist Ganjifa Raghupathi Bhat; dance feature by internationally-acclaimed artiste Vid.  Sridhar Jain and troupe.

Dec. 31 (Friday) – 11 pm to 12 am

Musical performance by Karnatak and English Police Band. 12 am to 12.15 am: New Year eve celebrations by Mysore Palace Board with bursting of colourful soundless crackers.

Dolls Show

Traditional dolls which are exhibited during Navaratri will be displayed at the Flower Show in four to five blocks. The Dolls Show will feature ‘Sri Ganeshana Vividha Vinodaavali’ by Nagaprasad, ‘Sri Shivashaktaika Rupinye Namaha’ by Hemalatha Kumaraswamy, ‘Sri Girija Kalyana’ by Geetha Srihari, ‘Namma Hemmeya Jumboo Savari’ by Meera Ramesh and ‘Sri Rama Vaibhava’ by Leelavathi.

The Mysore Palace Board will also display selected photos at the special gallery.

Other programmes include: The role of public in controlling spread of COVID, environmental awareness and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Documentary screening on Jayachamaraja Wadiyar’s works, Dasara celebration – Then and Now, Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar and Mysore Palace. There will be a New Year calendar release and planting of saplings.
