She was playing in front of her house when the dog attacked her

Mysuru: A two-and-a-half-year-old girl was injured when a stray dog attacked her while she was playing in front of her house at Chamundi Vihar Layout here yesterday.

On hearing the girl screaming, her parents rushed to her help and rescued her from the stray canine. Had not her parents acted swiftly, the dog would have dragged her, said those who saw the attack.

The little girl, who has been injured on her neck, was rushed to a hospital where she was treated.

Meanwhile, the residents said that the menace of stray dogs has increased in the locality causing a sense of fear among the residents. They alleged that despite lodging several complaints with the civic body, no action has been taken till now and have shown negligent attitude towards the issue.

They said that there are many stray dogs in the locality which are sick and added that there are possibilities of diseases being spread from them.

They have urged the authorities concerned to take the issue seriously and take  necessary action.
