Mysore/Mysuru: Joint Action Committee of Trade Unions, that had called for KSRTC employees protest today (Nov. 28) has decided to postpone its plans, as the State Government has consented to clear the pending salary arrears of KSRTC employees, due from Jan. 1, 2022 to Feb. 28, 2023.
The State Government came out with above assurance, at the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah yesterday, along with Transport Minister R. Ramalinga Reddy and KSRTC officials, and attended by representatives of Centre for Indian Trade Union (CITU), KSRTC SC/ST Officers and Employees Welfare Association and office-bearers of KSRTC Employees Association.
It was urged to hand over the responsibility to take a call on dropping those proposals that may dent the welfare of State Government employees, clear the pending amount of 38 months and revising the salary applicable from Jan. 1,2024 among others, to Transport Minister and Managing Director of KSRTC.
The CM has also consented to the demands and the next meeting is scheduled under the Chairmanship of Transport Minister on Dec. 6. Till then, the Joint Action Committee of Trade Unions, has given a call to the Transport Department employees to maintain calm and patience.
In compliance with retired IAS Officer M.R. Sreenivasa Murthy’s One-Man Committee Report, that has been submitted to the Government, the Chief Minister agreed to clear 14-month salary arrears and revise the salary from Apr. 1, 2026, as per the assurance given to trade union leaders.
However, the Members of Joint Action Committee, rejected the CM’s proposal, stating that, they would not compromise with their demand to clear arrears of 38 months and revise the salary applicable since Jan. 1, 2024.
