Govt. to hold Kannadakkaagi Naavu campaign from Oct. 24 to 30

October 21, 2021

Bengaluru: In yet another effort to promote Kannada language ahead of Rajyotsava celebration (Nov. 1), the State Government will hold a week-long ‘Kannadakkaagi Naavu’ campaign across the State from Oct. 24 to 30.

Announcing this at a press meet here on Tuesday, Kannada and Culture Minister V. Sunil Kumar said that this campaign will be celebrated like a festival  during which the staff of all Government Offices, Industries, IT-BT companies, shops and other commercial establishments, electronic media etc., will be suggested to communicate, correspond and converse only in Kannada out of fondness for the language. However, this is a  Kannada language promotional campaign and nobody will be forced to be part of the campaign, he clarified.

Pointing out that the campaign is aimed at creating a Kannada fervour in the State, Sunil Kumar said that the objective of the campaign is to educate each household and every individual on the significance and richness of Kannada.  Noting that the campaign will be launched on Oct. 24, he appealed all outsiders settled in the State to be part of this campaign by learning at least 100 Kannada sentences during the week.

Sunil Kumar further said that all the five Rangayanas and different Academies of the State will be engaged for the campaign and plays, dance and music programmes that portray the richness of Kannada land, language and culture, will be conducted at select places. The Minister also launched ‘Mataad Mataad Kannada’ logo.

Rajyotsava award

Referring to Rajyotsava awards, Sunil Kumar said that the Government has received 4,500 applications seeking the award. Pointing out that all the applications will be scrutinised, he said that a meeting  to be held under the leadership of the Chief Minister either on Oct.28 or Oct.29, will finalise the list of awardees. He further clarified that the yardstick for the award is purely the achievements of applicants and not the number of recommendations they have got.
