GP Member falls from bike, dies

Mysore/Mysuru: A member of Alanahalli Gram Panchayat (GP) was killed while another sustained serious injuries, when the bike on which they were travelling skidded on Gaddige Road yesterday.

While deceased has been identified as Swamaiah (42), a resident of Gangadahosahalli in H.D. Kote, the injured has been identified as Venkatesh, who has been admitted to a private hospital in city. The two were proceeding on Gaddige Road towards Mysuru, when the rider lost control of the bike at a turning near Kumarabeedu and skidded. Swamaiah, who was riding pillion, sustained serious head injuries and breathed his last on the spot while Venkatesh, who sustained serious injuries, is admitted to a hospital in city.

Yelwal Police shifted the body of Swamaiah to MMC&RI mortuary and the body was handed over to the family members after post-mortem was performed.
