Three arrested for killing man and throwing the body into lake

Periyapatna: Periyapatna Police have arrested three persons including the owner of a scrap shop on charges of killing a man and disposing his body into a lake.

The deceased is Uday (34) of K.M. Layout in the town. The arrested are Fayaz Ahmed, who was running a scrap shop near old Mahadeshwara Tent, scrap shop employee Puttaranga and Syed Jaleel, who used to sell scrap items to the shop.

Deceased Uday and Syed Jaleel used to collect scrap items, sell them to the scrap shop of Fayaz and sleep there. On last Monday night, a fight broke out between Uday and Jaleel for petty reasons and in a fit of rage, Jaleel dropped a huge stone on Uday’s head and killed him. Jaleel then had kept the body behind the shop.

Shop owner Fayaz, who came to the shop the next day morning, saw blood in the shop and questioned Jaleel who revealed about the killing. Fayaz, along with Jaleel and Puttaranga, took the body in a gunny bag and threw it into Arasinakere Lake.

Periyapatna Police, who found the body of Uday floating in the lake on Friday, shifted it to the mortuary and had registered a case.

During investigation, the Police came to know that the body was that of Uday, who was residing at K.M. Layout in the town. 

Continuing their investigation, the Police took Fayaz, Puttaranga and Jaleel into their custody and on interrogating them, the three are said to have revealed about the incident besides telling the Police that they had threw the body into the lake.

All the three accused were produced before a Court, which remanded them to Judicial custody.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Chethan, Additional SP Shivakumar, Dy.SP Raviprasad guided Hunsur Inspector Jagadish, Sub-Inspector Sadashiva Thippareddy, ASIs Jayaramegowda and Chikkanaika and staff Antony Cruz, Aslam Pasha, Satish, Raveesh, Gavigowda, Kumaraswamy, Habibulla, Prakash, Mahadev, Ananth, Rajarathnam, Ganesh and Basheer took part in the nabbing operation.
