Tahsildar announces Rs. 6 lakh compensation
T. Narasipur: In a tragic incident, a man along with his two grand-sons got drowned in the river at Hale Tirumakoodalu village in the taluk yesterday afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Chowdaiah (65), his grand-sons Bharat Gowda (11) and Dhanush Gowda (9), residents of Hale Tirumakoodalu village. While Bharat was studying in 5th standard his brother Dhanush was a 3rd standard student.
As the cow had given birth in the house, Chowdaiah along with Bharat and Dhanush had gone to the river to discard the placenta. After discarding the placenta near the jack-well, next to the old Cauvery River Bridge, all the three ventured into the water for a bath, during which the two boys were swept away and drowned. Chowdaiah, who saw his grand-sons getting drowned, went to their rescue but was also drowned.
The bodies of all the three were fished out from the River and were shifted to the Government Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, Tahsildar T.J. Sureshachar, on instruction from MLC Dr. Yathindra Siddharamaiah, announced a total compensation of Rs. 6 lakh (Rs. 2 lakh each to the deceased family members). The Tahsildar informed that Dr. Yathindra would give the compensation cheques when he visits the village. T. Narasipur Police have registered a case.
