Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the International
Women’s Day celebrations at JSS College for Women, Saraswathipuram, recently, she suggested that the society should create a fearless environment for women as they play a very significant role in strengthening the nation.
Presiding over the function, Prof. Padma Shekar, former Vice-Chancellor, Karnataka Sanskrit University, said that women and men should go together to maintain balance in the society. She opined that women were more compassionate than men and it made them special. She also spoke about the importance of maintaining work-life balance between men and women to protect the rights of women.
Chief guest Sindhura Gangadhar, Senior News Presenter, Power TV, Bengaluru, expressed her happiness to be a part of the celebration being an alumnus of this institution. She stated that the only way to be independent was to be educated.
Dr. Rechanna, Principal, staff members and students attended the programme. N. Nagalambike, Convener, Youth Red Cross and Head, Department of Geography, welcomed.
P. Vasumathi, Convener, Women Empowerment Cell and Head, Department of English, proposed the vote of thanks. Vidya and Group rendered the invocation. J. Pushpalatha, Assistant Professor, Department of Kannada, compered the event which concluded with cultural programmes.
