Grandparents ramp-walk at ‘Kautilya Sadagara’

December 25, 2017

Mysuru:It was literally a Grandparents Day Out at Kalamandira here recently where more than ten pairs of grandparents walked on the ramp dressed specially for the occasion in royal attire, as farmers and in North Karnataka style swaying to the exclusive songs played in the background.

The occasion was Grandparents Day coined aptly as ‘Ajjanondige Hejje-Ajjiyaondige Gejje’ organised by Kautilya Vidyalaya as a prelude to the Annual Day celebration  ‘Kautilya Sadagara.’

The programme was inaugurated by former Vice-Chancellor of Kuvempu University Dr. K. Chidananda Gowda and his wife Tarini Chidananda Gowda, daughter of Kuvempu. The couple also walked a few steps on the ramp with Kuvempu’s popular song ‘Dhoni Sagali Mundhe Hogali’ played in the background.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Chidananda Gowda said that he had visited many schools but opined that Kautilya Vidyalaya was very unique coming out with innovative concepts.

He highlighted the advantages of a joint family with special reference to children.

Recalling a news item from his memory Dr. Chidananda Gowda said that in the 60s in a small town in the USA, psychologists found out that the number of heart ailments was very less among people in that town compared to the neighbouring towns. It was discovered that most of the inhabitants there were immigrants from Italy and were living in joint families with closest bonding.

Kautilya Vidaylaya Chariman R. Raghu, Principal Savita and others were present during the occasion.
