Guruvandana offered to Sringeri Mutt Seers

Sringeri Sharada Peetham Senior Pontiff Sri Bharathi Theertha Swamiji and his junior Sri Vidushekhara Bharathi Swamiji were offered Guruvandana by devotees on Gurupurnima Day yesterday at a programme held at Shankar Mutt premises in Fort Mohalla here. The Guruvandana began with the Sringeri Mutt Dharmadhikari H. Ramachandra presenting phala to Seer Bharathi Theertha Swamiji and Sri Vidushekhara Bharathi Swamiji. Ramachandra was followed by Brahmana Mahasabha office-bearers N. Srikanta Kumar, District Brahmin Association President D.T. Prakash, former Minister S.A. Ramdas, Veerashaiva Mahasabha, Basava Balaga, Vokkaliga, Maratha, Vishwakarma, Nayaka, Jain and Pourakarmika Associations.

Earlier, Mayor M.J. Ravi Kumar presented Bhinnavathale to the Seers. Writer L.N. Shastri’s work Sri Valmiki Ramayanadalli Maryada Purushothama – Sri Rama and writer Sitadevi’s work Kathegondu Subhashitha were released on the occasion.

Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar ,speaking at the Guruvandana programme, said that Singeri Mutt guided the Royal Family in carrying forward our rich culture and traditions.

Sringeri Mutt Administrative Officer Dr. V.R. Gowrishankar, in his address, recalled the relationship between the Mutt and Mysuru rulers.

Stating that Pramoda Devi Wadiyar had donated several books of Mysuru Maharajas to the Mutt, he said that the Mutt has the responsibility of documenting and digitalising the books for the benefit of readers.

Yaduveer Wadiyar and Mayor M.J. Ravi Kumar were felicitated on the occasion.

Prior to Guruvandana, the Seers, responding to the pleas of Royal Family members, visited the Palace and blessed Pramoda Devi and Yaduveer.
