October 10, 2017

Mysuru: The 45-ft tall Karya Siddhi Hanuman statue at Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Ashrama (SGS) of Avadhoota Datta Peetham in city came alive last evening as the idol was worshipped using 4K projection mapping technology.

With this, the idol has become the first Hindu deity in the world to be worshipped through sophisticated technology.

The technological feat was demonstrated to the media and select gathering at the Ashrama yesterday where rituals were performed as per “Hanuman Chalisa” shlokas written by Saint Tulsidas. The worship, played through state-of-the-art technology included Abhisheka, Deepaalankaara, Tulsi and flower Swarnabhisheka for over eight minutes.

This apart, scenes from the burning of Ravana’s Lanka, Hanuman giving Lord Rama’s insignia to Sita, scenes from war between Lord Rama and Ravana were depicted along with a visual where Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji is standing at the feet of Lord Hanuman were played. The scenes, with huge visual appeal, mesmerised the audience.

The 4K projection mapping expands the definition of Karma Kanda and blends ancient tradition with sophisticated technology in a unique and never before manner. It is a highly skilled and sophisticated technology where the Hanuman statue was studied in great depth and every contour understood from a visual perspective.

The concept and execution of the project was done by Mani Shankar, renowned Bollywood film-maker, engineer, inventor and 3D Holography expert and Guinness World Record holder. The project was creatively supervised by Anjali Joshi who is a Bollywood writer, producer and production designer. Music has been composed by Sanjay Wandrekar, noted Bollywood music director and composer.
