‘Hasiru Mysuru Laksha Vruksha Abhiyan’

June 7, 2026

Senior journalist Ajit Hanumakkanavar, noted humourist Prof. M. Krishnegowda and former MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev watering a sapling to launch ‘Hasiru Mysuru Laksha Vruksha Abhiyan’ in city.

Senior journalist Ajit Hanumakkanavar has said that the threat posed by destruction of natural resources due to degradation of environment can be avoided by planting and nurturing saplings.

He was speaking after launching ‘Hasiru Mysuru Laksha Vruksha Abhiyan’ by watering a saplings at a programme organised by H.V. Rajeev Sneha Balaga, in association with Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP), B.C. Trust and Patanjali Yoga Shikshana Samsthe at Hasiru Mysuru Nursery on Nanjangud Road in city recently.

The true way of saving the environment is leaving the green undisturbed. One can say, the environment exists where the man has not set his foot. Whatever disturbance the environment is facing is due to the illusion among the man, who claims to be distinct than other living beings, he said.

“To understand the difference between Bengaluru city and Mysuru, one should stay at least for a day in both the cities. It is due to the contributions of Maharajas of Mysuru, that Mysuru city offers a pleasant environment, but when it comes to its age, it is between 25 and 30 years. Mysuru may go Bengaluru way in the future, a wake-up call indeed,” said Hanumakkanavar.

Several scientific studies have surmised that the maximum temperature may reach a record high, surpassing the record of 150 years. The man-made adversaries will surely end up in disasters, but may be postponed by planting trees. Hence, it is essential to grow plants at every house, he added.

Thousands of saplings including 5,000 plants for MCC were distributed on the occasion.

Mariyala Mutt Seer Sri Immadi Murugharajendra Swamiji, litterateur K.C. Shivappa, noted humourist Prof. M. Krishnegowda, retired IFS Officer T. Balachandra, former MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev, also the brain behind ‘Hasiru Mysuru’ campaign, former Mayor B.L. Bhyrappa and former Corporator K.V. Mallesh were present.
