Hassan Zilla Balaga presents Pratibha Puraskar for toppers in city

Mysuru: “Hassan district, which has a Centre of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), has its own significance since the time it was ruled by the Kings,” opined MLA S.A. Ramdas.

Speaking after releasing the calendar for the year 2023, at the Pratibha Puraskar function, organised by Hassan Zilla Balaga at Institution of Engineers auditorium, on JLB Road in city recently, Ramdas said that Hassan district has its own significance right from the time it was ruled by the erstwhile kings to the present day. The people of Hassan are gutsy and peace-loving.

During the rule of Ashoka, the message of peace was spread in the region. Hassan was a model for good administration during the reign of Hoysala Kings and became very famous for its sculptures of Belur and Halebeedu Temples, There are power-centred temples in the district, he added.

“Despite our political differences, it is a matter of pride for all of us that a Kannadiga became the Prime Minister of the country. At a time when leaders from North Karnataka used to become Chief Ministers of our State, H.D. Deve Gowda from South Karnataka became the Chief Minister of the State and later the Prime Minister of the country and served the people. In my three decades of political life I have seen many efficient officers from Hassan district,” Ramdas said and                                                      asked the people of Hassan who are residing in Mysuru to contribute to the development of the city.

After presenting Pratibha Puraskar to students, Chamundeshwari MLA  G.T. Devegowda, who also spoke on the occasion, said that as an MLA, Minister, Chief Minister, MP and Prime Minister (PM) H.D. Deve Gowda has contributed immensely to the State, country and the Vokkaliga community. Deve Gowda as a Prime Minister has achieved at the international level. His works during his brief stint as PM was enormous. Deve Gowda provided reservations to all sections of the society including women in local body elections. He provided  Highways, Metro Rail, Irrigation projects and waived off loans to the benefit of the people, said G.T. Devegowda, who also lauded the  development works of other Hassan district leaders like H.C. Srikantaiah and Puttaswamygowda apart from assuring to provide a site for the Hassan Balaga in city from MUDA.

Hassan district students in city, who have scored high marks in SSLC and PUC examinations and settled in Mysuru were encouraged by giving them Pratibha Puraskar.

MUDA Chairman Yashaswi Somashekar, Vokkaliga Association Working President C.G. Gangadhar, Dr. M.B. Manjegowda, President of Hassan Zilla Balaga P. Sharadamma, Hon. President B.B. Rama-krishna, Vice-President  Putta-swamygowda, General Secretary B.B. Rangegowda and others were present on the occasion.
