Mysuru: An accidental fire has gutted half of the hay stacked in Dasanakoppal on Bogadi Road here last night.

It is reported that one Govindappa had stored two tractor loads of hay at a vacant space near his residence. On Saturday at about 7 pm when he was watching television, the haystack caught fire.

Villagers, who saw the haystack burning, informed Govindappa and also informed Saraswathipuram Fire Brigade personnel, who rushed to the spot doused the fire thus saving half of it.

Saraswathipuram Assistant Fire Officer Shivaswamy and Staff Murthy Shetty, Thomas and Home Guard Girish took part in the extinguishing operation.
