‘HEAL-BioTec 2023’ at JSS School of Life Sciences from Dec. 7 to 9

Mysore/Mysuru: A three-day International Conference on ‘One Health: Biotechnology as a Catalyst for Sustainable Development (HEAL-BioTec 2023)’ has been organised by the Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru, at its School of Life Sciences (SLS) here from Dec. 7.

The main theme of this conference funded by Department of Science and Technology and Science and Engineering Research Board (DST-SERB) and Department of Bio-Technology (DBT), Government of India. It is to discuss the concept of ‘One Health’ which serves as a catalyst for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

The ‘One Health’ concept is also included in the G20. One Health approach aims to improve disease management by bringing together health, food and environmental scientists and policy specialists from different parts of the globe. This will provide an opportunity for faculty members, students and researchers to interact with the experts and gain knowledge.

Sanjay Kumar Varshney, Advisor & Head, International Collaborations, Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt. of India, will be the chief guest and deliver the keynote address at the conference. Dr. Hans Jorgensen, Professor, University of Copenhagen, Denmark, will be the guest of honour.

The plenary lectures will be delivered by Dr. Hans Jorgensen (Denmark) and Dr. Anil Kaul (Oklahoma, USA). Some of the other eminent scientists who would be delivering invited lectures include Dr. Jung-Hyun Kim (South Korea), Dr. Raj Kumar (Boston, USA), Dr. Claus Bang-Berthelsen (Denmark), Dr. S. Pradeep Kumar (Google) and Dr. Manju Bansal (IISc).

Around 500 participants are expected to attend the conference from all over the country. The conference will be hosted in a hybrid mode.
