Heliride, Palace-on-Wheels, Trin Trin, Street Fest add zest to 408th Nada Habba

Mysuru: The District Administration is leaving no stone unturned as it gears up for the celebration of the 408th Dasara, popularly called ‘Nada Habba’ (State-festival). A slew of events have been lined up and to spread the joy of the festival, as one of the main attractions, the visitors can experience ‘Helicopter Joy Ride,’ from this afternoon.

Dasara Special Officer and Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep announced the launching of ‘Heliride,’ Palace-on-Wheels, Trin Trin rides, 100 km Cyclothon, marathon and half-marathon, yesterday at the DC’s Office.

Heliride

The Heliride has been jointly organised by the District Administration, Pavan Hans and Chipsan Aviation from Sept. 16 to Oct. 5 at Lalitha Mahal Helipad between 9 am and 5 pm. The ride for ten minutes will cost Rs. 2,300 per person and for specially-abled and children below six years it is fixed at Rs. 2,200 per person.

Palace-on-Wheels

The tourists to Mysuru can experience the tradition, history and heritage of the city by taking the bus rides ‘Palace-on- Wheels,’ which takes them to five Palaces and three Museums, he said. The day-long trip will start at 10 am and end at 6.30 pm.

The KSRTC air-conditioned buses will ferry the tourists and there will be recognised KSTDC tourist guides who will accompany the tourists. A lunch has also been arranged as part of the package at Hotel Lalitha Mahal Palace and the trip costs Rs. 999 per person. The tour begins from Sept. 22 and ends on Oct. 2. The District Administration is also making all efforts to make the tourist stay a pleasant experience in city. With the Trin Trin bicycles becoming a good option to go around the city, the tourists will be lured to use this facility to experience the sites, sounds and smells of the city.

To gain easy access to the Trin Trins, more bicycles will be added at the docking stations near the Palace’s Balarama and  Varaha Gates and at other prominent places.

In order to use the bicycle, identity card is made compulsory and a day’s pass would cost just Rs. 50 while for a week’s pass it is fixed at Rs. 150, said Randeep and added that to encourage usage of Trin Trins, the hoteliers will be distributed smart cards at fixed rates who in turn can give it to the tourists. Open Street Fest

This is the first time that an Open Street Festival has been organised by the District Administration and Tourism Department on Sept. 27 on Devaraj Urs Road. The street will be completely free of traffic and the day-long festival will begin at 7 am and end at 9 pm. The Street Fest will have a variety of entertainment programmes, lot of creative activities and the focus will also be to maintain the street as plastic-free zone, the DC said.

Gold Cards available from today

Special Officer Randeep released the Gold Cards for Dasara yesterday and they are available for sale from today. Each Gold Card will cost Rs. 3,999 and it is available online on Dasara website www.mysore dasara.gov.in and at bookmyshow.com. The Gold Cards are available at the DC Office also. This year the card is entitled for only one person and there will be dedicated seats to view the Dasara Procession and Torchlight Parade at Bannimantap.

The latest cards cannot be duplicated and the tourists can have easy access at prominent tourist places. The authorities plan to sell 2,000 Gold Cards in all, said Randeep.

Tourism Department Deputy Director H. P. Janardhan, MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha, Information and Publicity Department Assistant Director R. Raju and CESC General Manager Satish were present at the meeting.

OPEN JEEP TOUR

For the first time, an Open Jeep Tour to enhance the city’s heritage will be launched as part of this year’s Dasara.

The tour consists of two scheduled trips per day, each tour for two hours. Each jeep can accommodate a maximum of six travellers. The jeep tour starts at Lalitha Mahal Palace and ends at Mysore Palace.

The circuit will cover Lalitha Mahal Palace, Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Chamundi Hill View Point, Race Course, Government Guest House, Wellington House, Clock Tower, Free Masons Club, Town Hall, Gandhi Square, Devaraja Market, Guru Sweets, Dufferin Clock Tower, KR Circle, Lansdowne Building, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), Gun House and Jayamarthanda Gate of Palace.

The Open Jeep Tour will be inaugurated by Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar on Sept. 18 at 11 am near the North Gate of Palace.
