Gayana Sabha, Mysuru, has organised a Hindustani Music Workshop and Concert by Pt. Ravikiran Manipal on Dec.23.

The Music Workshop on Voice Culture in Hindustani Music will be held at Mini Hall in Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha on JLB Road in city at 10 am.

The Concert will be held at  M.L. Krishnaswami’s residence, ‘Meenakshi,’ #12/A,1st Main Road, 4th Stage, T.K. Layout near Kamakshi Hospital, at 5.30 pm. He will be accompanied by Bhimashankar Bidanur and Chaitanya Bhat.

Profile: Ravikiran got initiated into classical music by his uncle Gururaj Marpally. He came under the tutelage of Lt. Pt. G. Madhav Bhat and later underwent advanced training under Lt. Pt. Narayan Panditji.

By contemporising and elevating the values and aesthetics to higher level of sublimity and artistry under his Guru Narayan Pandit’s guidance, Ravikiran could groom his own gayaki that has won tthe heartsof laymen, critics and scholars alike.

Ravikiran secured ‘Vidwat’ degree from Karnataka Secondary Education Board and ‘Sangeetalankara’ from Akhila Bharata Gandharva Mahamandal, Miraj.

An ‘A’ grade artiste of AIR, Ravikiran has performed all over the country and abroad as well. He has also conducted several lec-dem programmes and workshops at various places.

Ravikiran’s jugalbandi concerts with noted Santoor player Sandeep Chatterjee, Kolkata and with Karnatak vocalist J. Pradeep have been widely appreciated. He is also a devoted Guru, who runs classes regularly at Mangaluru.
