Hit-and-Run case: Gonikoppal Gram Panchayat Member succumbs to injuries

Gonikoppal: A Gonikoppal Gram Panchayat Member, who had suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run incident at Harishchandrapur in Gonikoppal in Kodagu last night and admitted to a hospital in Mysuru, has succumbed to injuries this morning.

The deceased is A.S. Khaleemulla (44), proprietor of Sahara Engineering Works at Harishchandrapur. He was also a Congress leader and a social worker.

It is learnt that Khaleemulla, along with a few people, were standing on the roadside at Harishchandrapur when a Maruti Omni van hit them and sped away resulting in Khaleemulla and another person sustaining serious injuries.

They were rushed to Gonikoppal General Hospital and Khaleemulla was later shifted to a private hospital in Mysuru, where he succumbed to injuries this morning.

A case has been registered at Gonikoppal Police Station in this regard. It is learnt that the Maruti Omni van was traced at Chennangolli Pysari.
