Mysore/Mysuru: With a lot of homes not having enough rooms to isolate COVID- positive patients, hotels have started offering rooms to be converted into exclusive COVID Care Centres for non-critical and asymptomatic patients.
Addressing a press meet at Mysore Hotel Owners Association premises in Krishnamurthypuram this morning, Vice President of Mysuru Association of Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Clinics and Diagnostic Centres (MAHAN) Dr. G. Siddesh said, “A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed by Mysore Hotel Owners Association and MAHAN enabling hotels in Mysuru to offer over 3,000 rooms to accommodate COVID-19 patients.
As a first step from tomorrow, ten budget hotels and four star Hotels in city are offering beds for asymptomatic patients. There are two seven-day packages of Rs. 4,000 per day in a budget hotel and Rs. 6,000 per day in a star hotel. The packages would include seven days of stay in any designated hotel, food and beverages as specified by dieticians, 24×7 nursing care and monitoring, medications and tele-medical consultation facility with frequent monitoring of vitals for early recognition of deteriorating symptoms. Also, 24×7 ambulance services will be available for our customers.”
“ The number of positive cases have been increasing in recent days. As home isolation is the norm these days, many homes may not have the facilities to keep a COVID patient and there is a risk of the virus spreading to other members of the family in case there are no exclusive quarantine rooms in houses. Such people can opt for a stay in hotels for treatment and day-to-day care. This is to handle asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic patients who do not need critical care and cannot isolate at home. If complications arise, patients will be shifted to the hospital. The District Administration and the Health Department has given its nod for this arrangement,“ he added.
President of Mysore Hotel Owners Association C. Narayanagowda, MAHAN Secretary H.R. Abhijit, R. Basavaraj, Ravindra Bhat and Raghavendra Tantri were present at the press meet this morning.
