Human greed causing irreparable damage to nature: H.V. Rajeev

March 2, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Chairman H.V. Rajeev has stressed the need for the protection of environment in the wake of imbalance in nature and unprecedented floods due to erratic weather condition.

Speaking after inaugurating the regional conference of Lions Clubs International Dist. 317A here on Feb. 27, he said: “man was damaging nature without understanding the repercussions  resulting in pollution of air, water and noise. Snow-covered mountains were melting due to adverse weather. Unseasonal rains were creating havoc in different parts of the country. This calls for urgent protection of nature before it was too late.”

Rajeev said that efforts to end hunger started by way of offering prasadam at temples. Subsequently, it took shape of ‘Dasoha’ in Mutts. Two to three decades ago, children were discontinuing education due to hunger. This prompted the State Govt. to start mid-day meal scheme for school children, he added.

Everyone knows the quality of food served to the school kids despite the Government supplying rice, dal, vegetables and pulses. However, Adamya Chetana Trust run by Tejaswini Ananth Kumar, wife of former Union Minister late H.N. Ananth Kumar, was an exemption as high quality food was served to over 1.5 lakh children of Bengaluru every day. The food is prepared in one location and distributed to schools across the city. This concept has been extended to Rajasthan where lakhs of students were taking benefit of this scheme. The ‘Kayaka’ of providing quality food to poor children was really a noble job, he added.

Earlier, Tejaswini Ananth Kumar, Chairperson of Adamya Chetana Trust and MLA S.A. Ramdas, inaugurated the Plate Bank Counter started jointly by Lions Club of Mysore, Adamya Chetana, Nisarga and Mayuri Association. Lions Regional Chairman S.
