Mysuru: ‘Bettada Charana,’ a hill climbing event organised by the Yoga Dasara Sub-Committee was held in city this morning.
About 600 yoga enthusiasts who assembled as early as 5.30 am at the foot of Chamundi Hill took part in the event.
The event was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep in the presence of ADC T. Yogesh, MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha, CESC General Manager Satish Kumar and other dignitaries.
While youngsters climbed the 1,001 steps in about 45 minutes, others climbed the steps in about an hour and twenty minutes. District officials Randeep, Yogesh, Jagadeesha and others also climbed the steps and reached the hill top along with other participants.
After reaching the hill top, yoga enthusiasts along with the dignitaries who assembled at the open space near Chamundeshwari Temple, performed Durgasana and other asanas for about 20 minutes before climbing down. A booklet on Yoga was also released on the occasion.
Yoga Dasara Sub-Committee President Siddappa and other office-bearers of the Sub-Committee were present.
