Hyderabad tourist killed as taxi rams into tree on Bandipur Road

Gundlupet: A tourist from Hyderabad was killed on the spot, while other occupants (family members of the deceased) of the tourist vehicle have sustained injuries, when their vehicle hit a roadside tree near Hangala village on Bandipur Road this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Jayalakshmi (50). Those injured have been identified as Venkaiah, Rajesh, Padmavathi and two children. They have been shifted to a hospital in Mysuru.

The tourists from Hyderabad, who had hired a Bengaluru registration taxi, were proceeding to Ooty. When they neared Hangala village near Bandipur, the driver of the taxi lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a roadside tree killing Jayalakshmi and injuring others.

Highway Patrol vehicle driver Horeyala Mahadevaswamy, who noticed deceased Jaya-lakshmi wearing gold jewellery worth lakhs of rupees, removed the same and handed it over to the family members of the deceased. Gundlupet Police have registered a case.
