‘I grew up here, know local problems, have solutions’

BJP candidate T.S. Srivatsa shares his vision and commitment for KR Constituency

T.S. Srivatsa, the BJP candidate from Krishnaraja (KR) Constituency, is the last of the nine siblings of Talakad T.N. Srinivas  Tatachar and Rangalakshmi couple. He lives in his ancestral home (see pic.) located on the second cross of Ramanuja Road in Agrahara, Mysuru. The 56-year-old Srivatsa, a B.Com graduate, has been a dedicated member of BJP since 1988 and has served the party in various capacities, including City BJP President, a post he currently holds. He also runs an incense stick packing firm. As the May 10 election draws near, Star of Mysore caught up with him amidst his busy poll campaign for a chat. Excerpts:

By S.B. Devaraj

Star of Mysore (SOM): What was your first reaction when BJP named you as the party’s candidate?

Srivatsa: I was very happy to have been given the opportunity to contest. This shows that dedicated and determined party workers will be suitably rewarded in the BJP. It is also an example of how an ordinary worker who is hardworking and honest is given an opportunity at the right time.

SOM: Now that you have been given the ticket, how is the response of the electorate?

Srivatsa: Yes, there is a positive response to me everywhere even as the election campaign has touched peak. The response that I am getting is all the more enthusiastic, with people greeting me and wishing me. This response, which is well beyond my expectations, is surely going to result in my victory.

SOM: Are you aware of the problems in the Constituency?

Srivatsa: Yes, I do have a thorough understanding of the problems and I have listed out the problems and will work to resolve them on a priority basis. I grew up here, have spent most of my life in the Constituency and as such I am very well aware of the grievances of the citizens. Moreover, I grew up amidst a slew of problems and as such I am quite familiar with the problems of citizens, for which I have solutions.

SOM: What would be your topmost priority if you win?

Srivatsa:  One of my first priorities is to find a long-lasting solution to the Sewage Farm in Vidyaranyapuram where a solid waste treatment plant is functioning. The plant has been emanating an unbearable stench and the residents are facing untold sufferings and health hazards. I will take all measures to address the woes of the residents. Likewise, I will also work towards finding a permanent solution to the landed property Khata hurdles relating to K.C. Layout.

SOM: What assurances would you give to voters during campaign?

Srivatsa: I will always be a people-friendly legislator. I promise to work in a way that no one should run often to the MLA’s office or house for any work. I want to be an ordinary MLA who will be one among the people.

SOM: What are the voters complaining about during your poll campaign?

Srivatsa: One of the major problems is that of Rajakaluve that runs through KR Constituency. People also complain about the supply of polluted water, lack of civic amenities, water-logging during rains, etc. I will work for addressing the issues raised by the citizens.

SOM: What is your strategy for attracting young voters?

Srivatsa: We have asked the youths to download the Namo App, which will act like a guide to the future. We are talking to the youths about the ideas and future plans of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the country. We are also educating them about what Modi has done to India so far and what he plans to do in the coming years. The youths are naturally swayed by the BJP’s policies and plans. So, they have decided that BJP is their only choice as the Prime Minister has drawn a roadmap for their future and the entire country will come to know of this in the coming days.
