Mysore/Mysuru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Nanjangud for an election rally for the first time on May 7. He is also scheduled to visit the historical Sri Srikanteshwara Swamy Temple.

Nanjangud rally has been designed to woo voters in favour of V. Somanna, who is pitted against former CM Siddharamaiah and also to influence voters to elect B. Harshavardhan who is contesting against Darshan Dhruvanarayan of Congress.

According to the PM’s existing poll schedule, Modi will fly from Shivamogga at 4.30 pm and his chopper will land at Elachagere on Nanjangud-Gundlupet road and he will address a public rally at Elachagere Gate. After the rally, he will proceed to the Temple by road and later return to the Mysore Airport at Mandakalli to take a special flight at 5.45 pm.

A team of Special Protection Group (SPG) is already camping in Nanjangud and are preparing for the PM’s visit. Yesterday, they visited Srikanteshwara Temple and reviewed security.
