Mandya: Maintaining that she had not initiated any poll survey, Actress Sumalatha Ambarish, who has contested as an independent candidate from Mandya Lok Sabha seat, has said that she has not taken poll surveys seriously.
Speaking to press persons after attending two weddings at Mandya on Sunday, Sumalatha said that poll surveys are influenced by some and she would not take them seriously.
Stating that she would wait till May 23 when the counting of votes will be taken up, Sumalatha, however, said that she was very much hopeful of victory.
Referring to Actor Darshan’s statement that a remunerative price to crops was a better solution than farm loan waiver, Sumalatha, supporting the actor’s statement, said it was a good idea.
Stating that the Government must declare MSP (Minimum Support Price) for all farm produce, she said that remunerative prices for crops would go a long way in addressing farmer issues.
This was Sumalatha’s second visit to Mandya after the Apr.18 polls.
Earlier on Sunday, Sumalatha attended two weddings — one of the daughter of Basaralu Gram Panchayat Member Kenchanahalli Raju at Kanaka Samudaya Bhavan in Mandya city, where she had a chance meeting with Congress leader and former Minister Cheluvarayaswamy, who had reportedly lent support to Sumalatha, defying the Congress diktat to support coalition candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy of the JD(S) and the other at Marakasalagere village in the taluk.
Sumalatha also visited her late husband actor-turned-politician Ambarish’s native Doddarasinakere and neighbouring Chikkarasinakere villages and had darshan of the village deity.
Suspended Congress leader Induvalu Sachidananda, Ambarish Fans Association President Belur Somashekar and others were present.
