Mysore/Mysuru: Observing that he lost the Legislative Council Polls from South Graduates Constituency because the voters rejected him, BJP candidate M.V. Ravishankar said that he may have failed to formulate the right poll strategy.
Reacting to his second straight loss, Ravishankar said that he is a loyal BJP worker and does not want to blame anyone for his defeat. Asserting that there is no dissension within the party, he said that he lost because the voters rejected him.
Ravishankar had lost to K.T. Srikantegowda of JD(S) in the last polls held in 2016.
When asked whether BJP leaders and Ministers failed to attract Vokkaliga voters who were a sizeable number in the polls, Ravishankar said that he did not grow up in the BJP due to his caste and that he climbed the ladders of the party through sheer hard work and dedication.
Maintaining that contesting polls on caste identity is itself wrong, he said that though he had full confidence that voters would favour him this time, he does not understand where he went wrong.
“There is no question of meeting Party High Command to complain about any leader,” he added.
When asked what he would like to say for those who voted him, he said he was thankful to all of them. Though he lost, he would continue to be in touch with the voters and try to address their problems, he said.
