District topper M.A. Tejaswini of Bharath Matha PU College at Koppa in Periyapatna taluk aims to become a CA
Mysuru: In the II PUC exam results announced yesterday, Mysuru students — M.A. Tejaswini, who came second topper in the State and G. Dhatri, who came fourth, both in Commerce stream — have brought laurels to the district.
While Tejaswini (598/600 marks) is a student of Bharath Matha PU College at Koppa in Periyapatna, G. Dhatri, who scored 596, is a student of Sadvidya Semi-Residential PU College at Vijayanagar 2nd Stage in Mysuru.
Tejaswini is first topper in the district while Dhatri second topper in Commerce stream in the district.
Tejaswini is the daughter of Makutta DRFO M.A. Anand and Sujatha couple, residents of Adishankaracharya Layout in Kushalnagar. Dhatri is the daughter of Prasar Bharati (Akashvani) employee at Bengaluru K.R. Gururaj and D.N. Aparna couple.
K. Harshini, a student of Kuvempunagar BGS Girls PU College and daughter of industrialist R. Kumar and S. Shobha couple of Bogadi, has come third in the district in Commerce stream, scoring 594/600.
In the Science stream, Anagha S. Karnis of SVIC Jnanodaya PU College, Saraswathipuram and S. Sangeetha of Adichunchanagiri PU College in Kuvempunagar have shared the top rank in the district, with each scoring 594/600. S. Sangeetha is the daughter of retired KSRTC bus driver Sundaravardhan and Suma couple, residents of Agrahara in the city.

Nafiya Noor of MMK&SDM PU College for Girls and M. Sudeeksha of Sadvidya Semi-Residential PU College in the city have shared the second place in the district in Science stream by scoring 593/600. G.P. Darshan of Nanjangud’s Citizen’s PU College, Unnati A. Medappa of Lakshmi Hayagriva PU College in Dattagalli, Varsha B. Patali of Sadvidya Composite PU College, Varuni Ramesha of BASE PU College have shared the third position scoring 592/600 and B. Diganth of BASE PU College and B.R. Likhita of Seshadripuram PU College in the district have shared the fourth position scoring 591/600.
In the Arts stream, Bibi Ameena of the city’s St. Philomena’s PU College has come first in the district, scoring 584/600 marks. She is the daughter of S. Khaleemulla and Asma Zubin couple, residents of N.R. Mohalla. S. Pareekshananda of the city’s Marimallappa’s PU College has come second in the district scoring 583 marks, while K.R. Bindu of Ravandur Government PU College in Periyapatna taluk has come third in the district scoring 581 marks.
Speaking to Star of Mysore, the district topper M.A. Tejaswini said, “Whatever was taught in the college, I used to study it the same night. I was not going to tuition. Three months prior to the exams, I used to get up early in the morning and study for 7-8 hours a day. I wish to become a CA.”
G. Dhatri, the fourth State topper in Commerce stream, said that she used to study 6-7 hours a day and did not go to tuitions anywhere. “I have the ambition to become a Chartered Accountant (CA),” she added.

K. Harshini, the third topper of the district in Commerce stream, said that she got 3 marks less in English than what she had expected. Pointing out that she did not study late in the night, she said that she used to study in the early morning hours. She wants to pursue her career as a CA, she added.
Bibi Ameena, the district topper in Arts stream, said she had not expected to become a topper in the district. Noting that she used to study the lessons daily, she said she was more interested in Humanities. The college lecturers inspired and supported her, which largely helped her in becoming the district topper, she added.
Meanwhile, the district has improved its position in the State rankings in the II PU exam, by climbing to the 12th spot from the 17th position last year. Out of the 31,610 students who had appeared, 23,485 have passed out, with the district recording a pass percentage of 74.3 percent.
The students can apply for revaluation or recounting of marks from Apr. 12 to 17 after downloading the copies of their answer scripts. The price for getting a scanned copy of answer scripts has been fixed at Rs. 530, while the fee for revaluation of answer paper in each subject has been fixed at Rs.1,670.
