Illegal stay: Malaysian National sentenced to jail

Mysuru: The Fourth AFM Court, on Mar.27, has sentenced a Malaysian National, for overstaying in the country despite his visa being expired on July 4, 2017, to four months imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs.10,000 on the foreign national.

The accused has been identified as 27-year-old Muhamad Shafiee of Malaysia, who was staying at an apartment on the 4th Main in V.V. Mohalla here.

V.V. Puram Police, who had registered a case under the Foreign Act, submitted a charge-sheet against the accused to the Court.

Judge C. Mala, who heard the arguments, found the accused guilty and sentenced him.

Public Prosecutor C. Thammanna argued for the State.
