Truck seized, driver arrested, truck owner goes absconding

Mysore/Mysuru: A Police team, led by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) R. Shivakumar, have seized a truck transporting sand illegally and have arrested the driver.

The arrested driver is Manu, a resident of Bannur and truck owner identified as Suresh of Galagarahundi has gone absconding.

ASP Shivakumar, after confirming that illegal sand mining was rampant on the banks of Cauvery River close to Bidarahalli near Bannur, conducted an operation along with Constables Srinivas and Deepu, during which they saw a truck coming and followed the truck till it reached the main road and stopped it. On inspecting the truck, the Police found that it was loaded with river sand covered with M-Sand and seized the truck and arrested the driver.

ASP Shivakumar said that they had information about two trucks belonging to Suresh was transporting sand illegally and hence, the raid was conducted.
