Include yoga in school curriculum: Yoga Champ at JSS Rangotsava

Mysuru:  A three-day JSS Rangotsava-2019 organised by JSS Kalamantapa and JSS Mahavidyapeetha commenced yesterday at JSS Women’s College premises in Saraswathipuram here. 

School and College students will stage plays at 11 am and 6 pm daily with free entry for students (morning) and public (evening). The play Chandramukhi was enacted yesterday  by students of JSS Public School, Banashankari, Bengaluru. 

Today, the play Manteswamy Katha Prasanga and tomorrow Thirukana Kanasu Mathu Mangagala Upavasa will be staged.

The Rangotsava was held in Bengaluru from Dec. 2 to 4 and will be held from Dec. 19 to 21 at JSS Girls High  School, Chamarajanagar.

Inaugurating the programme, Yoga Champ H. Khushi observed that a radical change in culture is taking place in society and suggested inclusion of yoga in school curriculum. She opined that both studies and extra-curricular activities are important.

Speaking as the chief guest, former Rangayana (Dharwad) Director Dr. Prakash Garuda opined that theatre is a complete art which should be linked to formal education.

Presiding over the programme, theatre artiste Dr. H.K. Ramanath opined that education is not just scoring marks. He said that any art should be practised with dedication and discipline to achieve the set goals.
