Seers play crucial role in maintaining social harmony

December 10, 2019

Shravanabelagola (Hassan): Maintaining that Mutt Seers play a crucial role in maintaining social harmony, Jain Muni Sri Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji  said it is also the responsibility of the Seers to work for social welfare.

He was delivering a discourse to mark his 50th anniversary of Suvarna Deeksha Mahotsava at Chavundaraya Sabha Mantapa in Shravanabelagola on Sunday.

Noting that Seers must stay away from politics, Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji opined that doing so will help the Mutts to become more society-oriented.

Recalling his journey in the past 50 years, he said that there are many plans that have remained incomplete and as such he was not very satisfied.

Observing that dharma does not only mean puja and devotion, he said that doing good to the society is the real dharma. The Jain Mutt will spend the devotee offerings for providing free treatment  to children, he added.

Former Union Minister Dr. M. Veerappa Moily said that the Jain Muni has good literary skills. Claiming that he drew inspiration from the Seer to pen his ‘Bahubali Digvijayam’ work during the 2018 Mahamastakabhisheka, he recalled the services of the Seer in his fifty years of Deeksha.

Tamil Nadu Arahantgiri Mutt Seer Sri Dhavalakeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji, Hombuja Mutt Seer Sri Devendrakeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji, Adichunchanagiri Branch Mutt Seers Sri Shambunath Swamiji, Chandrashekar Swamiji and  Shivaputranath Swamiji, Dharmasthala’s Surendra Heggade, MLA C.N.Balakrishna, MLC M.A. Gopalaswamy, former MLC G.
