Mysore/Mysuru: Dr. K.A. Anu Appaiah, retired Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru, has been invited by the Government of India to be the Independent Member of Scientific Committee of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) for three years (2023-25).
Scientific Committee is the highest scientific body of FSSAI, which frames all the regulations concerned to food and beverages at National level. The Committee comprises six Independent Members and Chairpersons of 21 Scientific Panels. FSSAI regulations are made on strong scientific evidences and in-depth discussion by expert scientists across the country.
Dr. Appaiah had earlier served as the Chairman of the Scientific Panel on “Water and non-alcoholic beverages” and then as Chairman of Scientific Panel on “Alcoholic Beverages.” He is the Chairman of Indian Delegation to International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) till date.
After Dr. Appaiah’s retirement from CSIR-CFTRI, he is the Technical Director of Salutary Nutrifoods, a startup company involved in providing solutions to food companies and developing technologies for Ready To Eat and Ready To Drink foods.
Son of late Konerira Aiyappa and Devaki (Biddanda), Dr. Appaiah is married to Dr. Sushma Appaiah, Founder of Golz Nutrition & Diet Solutions.
