Inflation, workers’ issues: SUCI to protest in Bengaluru on May 14

May 12, 2025

Mysuru: The Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) [SUCI(C)] will hold a massive protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on May 14, demanding that both Central and State Governments take immediate action to control inflation and address the growing issues faced by workers and farmers.

Announcing this at a press conference at Pathrakarthara Bhavan in the city yesterday, SUCI District Secretary B. Ravi said, “Thousands of people from across the State — including members of the farming community, working class and unorganised sectors — will take part in the protest. We expect a turnout of around 10,000 participants.”

The protest will be addressed by SUCI Communist Polit Bureau Member Comrade K. Radhakrishna and State Secretariat Member Comrade Ramanjanappa Alballi. SUCI State Secretary K. Uma will preside over the event, Ravi added.

Criticising the Central Government, Ravi said, “There has been a continuous hike in the prices of cooking gas, petrol, diesel and other essential commodities, causing immense hardship to the common people. Citizens are left to shoulder the burden of education and healthcare costs by themselves. Meanwhile, the taxes collected from the public are benefiting corporates, big contractors, politicians and top officials, leading to  worsening unemployment.”

He also came down heavily on the State Government for failing to control inflation and address joblessness. “Unemployment is pushing the youth towards substance abuse, excessive mobile use and a life of illusion. Women are bearing the brunt of this crisis,” Ravi said, demanding that both Governments take immediate steps to meet the pressing needs of farmers and workers.
