Inner Wheel Club of Mysore Central hands over cattle to women in distress

September 3, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: Members of Inner Wheel Club of Mysore Central on Aug. 31 distributed cows and calves to four women who were in financial distress due to lockdown and subsequent poor economic condition in the region. Four women, Javaramma, 70, Kendamma, 37, Nanjamma, 35 and Nanjammanni, 33, all residents of Chikkereyuru village in H.D. Kote taluk, are the beneficiaries.

Each cow with calf of worth Rs. 25,000 would provide 4 to 5 litres of milk per day. All these four women now can earn some money for their livelihood by selling the milk. Club members also distributed fodder and supplementary feeds to those cattle that would be sufficient for a period of one month.

Club members offered puja to the cattle at the residences of the beneficiaries and welcomed them to their homes in a traditional manner.

Speaking on the occasion, Club President Kavitha Vinod said, “Every year, we have been organising such programmes to help those in distress. We heard that, from the last four-five months, these four women, who are single parents, were having tough time due to lockdown and subsequent poor economic condition in the region. All our Club members enthusiastically agreed to lend helping hand. Hence, we purchased these four cows with calves of worth Rs. 25,000 each and now they have been distributed to these villagers.”

Club Secretary Lakshmi Arun, Vice-President Sandhya Dinesh, former President Purnima Vishwanath, Pushpa Lokesh and others were present.
