Inordinate delay in disbursement of salary at Govt. Colleges

November 5, 2020

Sir,

In recent times salary is not being disbursed on time to the employees of Degree Colleges (Government and aided), Engineering and Polytechnics in particular from the Government.

In fact the salary is being delayed by two to three months. Whenever the officials concerned are enquired in the Department in this regard, they give evasive reply.

Around two months back I read in SOM that MLC Marithibbegowda had appealed to the Minister for Higher Education to release salary dues of lecturers in one installment and to disburse salary on time every month in future.

Though the Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) in a circular on 20th March 2020 had given strict instructions to all the Departments to disburse salary on the 5th of every month, the officials concerned have not taken it seriously. This shows the callous and apathetic attitude of the officials towards teachers.

This inordinate delay in the disbursal of salary has put the employees into lot of hardship. It has become very difficult to bear the family expenses. Some employees have availed personal loan, home loan, educational loan, vehicle loan etc., and also to take care of their aged parents.

Apart from this, the whole State is combating the COVID pandemic and the employees cannot afford the medical expenses of  patients in the family without salary.

Hence, I sincerely appeal to all the representatives of the people (MLAs , MLCs and MP) of Mysuru District and the Deputy Commissioner to use their good offices to address this issue seriously to the Chief Minister and the Minister for Higher Education, Government of Karnataka and see to it that the employees get their salary on time.
