Inter-collegiate paper presentation contest at St. Joseph’s College

An inter-collegiate paper presentation competition was conducted at St. Joseph’s First Grade College in Jayalakshmipuram here yesterday.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. G. Raj Gopal, retired Professor, the Central Institute of English and Foreign Language University, Hyderabad. Through interactive sessions, he tried to highlight the importance of life skills and how to acquire them.

Principal Prof. C.M. Mani, in his presidential address, spoke about the growth of St. Joseph’s First Grade College, congratulated the faculty of English for organising the programme and stressed on relevance of the programme which was to instil confidence, to empower the students and provide a common platform to discuss the nuances of English language.

Dr. Indrani, Convenor, Organising Committee, welcomed the gathering. Dr. Lavanya introduced the chief guest. Nisha briefed on paper presentation. Ramesh proposed a vote of thanks. Dean (Academic) Prof. Mallikarjuna Setty was present.

Over 20 students from various Colleges of Mysuru including Mahajana, SDM, JSS (Ooty Road), Teresian and Marimallappa Colleges, participated in the competition.

Govindaraju, Principal of Government First Grade College, Gundlupete and Vedavathi, former Principal of Jnanodaya Public School, Mysuru, judged the presentation and shared their experience.

Winners: Esther of St. Joseph’s First Grade College won the 1st prize. The 2nd prize was bagged by Thoi from Marimallappa College and the 3rd prize was won by Souparnika from Marimallappa college.

Oral quiz was conducted to test the literary awareness of the students.

The inaugural ceremony was compered by Vishal Singh of 6th sem BA and Lavanya of    4th sem BA. The valedictory function was compered by Cynthia of 6th sem BA and Tejaswini of 4th sem BA.
