Fan Park at SJCE campus to screen CSK Vs MI title clash

In order to popularise the game of cricket in all parts of the country, the BCCI’s VIVO IPL Fan Park will be taking place in Mysuru,  at the JSS University of Science & Technology, SJCE campus, Mysuru, today (May 12), when Mumbai Indians’ (MI) clash with Chennai Super Kings  (CSK) in the final.

The match will be screened live in the Fan Park at the campus from 7.30 pm. The entry will be free and the Fan Park gates will open at 6 pm. This is the fourth time, Mysuru is hosting the Fan park during VIVO IPL.

Speaking to the press last evening at the press conference, Irfan Datar, representative of the BCCI, said that the Fan park will have a seating capacity of nearly 8,000 and all the basic facilities for the spectators to watch the game comfortably will be provided.

“The safety and security of the spectators at the venue will be ensured, and there will be a food court, special area for senior citizens and kids. The replica of the IPL Trophy will be displayed in the Fan Park and fun activity counters will also there, which will help in improving the spectator participation,” added.

He said that this year, IPL Fan Park has covered 21 States and 36 cities since the start of the Tournament, and for the final, have arrived in Mysuru.

CSK Vs MI

CSK will take on MI in what promises to be a blockbuster final of this 12th edition of the IPL. The clash at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad tonight will pit the two most successful teams in the history of the T20 Tournament against each other.

It can’t be disputed that Mumbai go into the final as the favourites, having beaten Chennai as many as three times earlier in the Tournament, including in the Qualifier 1 at Chepauk on Tuesday.

However, statistics count for little going into the title fight with both teams being in this situation multiple times in the past.

Rohit Sharma-led MI can certainly take confidence out of the fact that they have won three out of the four finals they have been a part of, including the two against Chennai in  2013 and 2015.

For defending champions CSK, who have entered their eighth final in ten attempts, it has been another remarkable season after last year when they made a triumphant return having served a two-year suspension.
