IPS Officer R. Dileep passes away

Mysuru: Senior IPS Officer R. Dileep (52), who was serving as DIG, Economic Offences wing of CID at Bengaluru, passed away at a private hospital in Bengaluru on Friday following brief illness.

He leaves behind his mother Kaveri, wife Ramya, son Aniruddh, daughter Aditi, brother R. Deepak and a host of relatives and friends. Last rites were performed at Bengaluru’s Banashankari crematorium this afternoon, according to family sources.

An avid music-lover, Dileep had served as Mysuru SP over a decade ago. Beginning his career as a Police Officer in 1997, he had served as Bhatkal Dy.SP and at other places before being promoted as SP, following which he served at Mysuru, Uttara Kannada and Dharwad.

After his elevation to the IPS in 2005, he served as Police Commissioner of Hubballi-Dharwad and was currently serving as a DIG. He was due for promotion as IGP in a couple of days.

State DG&IGP Praveen Sood and other senior Police officers paid their last respects to the departed soul.
