It was a ‘hoax’ bomb threat: Top Cop

Mysore/Mysuru: City Police Commissioner Dr. Chandragupta confirmed that bomb threat received by the Office of  Joint Commissioner of Commercial Tax proved to be hoax. 

While speaking to media, the City Top Cop said, “A letter which stated placing of bomb in the Commercial Tax Office is a prank done by miscreants. It was written in just one line in English. Immediately the staff at the Tax Office was alerted and all of them were sent outside. Later it was proved to be a hoax bomb scare. Security is increased in the city, as Dasara is nearing. All the details of tourists visiting city during Dasara will be monitored through hotels and lodges.”

Joint Commissioner of Commercial Tax Manjunath said, “We received no phone call over the bomb threat. Around 11.30 am, when I was in a meeting, Police officials came up with a letter which stated of placing the bomb at the office premises. After inspection was conducted by the Bomb Squad, it was confirmed hoax.”
