August 29, 2017

Mysuru: After a brief break, rain is back in Kodagu and some parts of Mysuru, H.D. Kote and Malnad region. The southern part of Karnataka has been receiving continuous — though not in heavy scale — rainfall since the evening of Aug. 27.

Yesterday, showers continued from early morning till noon and towards the evening, the skies opened up, affecting normal life. Some schools and colleges in Mysuru, H.D. Kote and Periyapatna declared a holiday.

In Kodagu, the District Administration declared a holiday today for schools and colleges. Movement of vehicles along several roads in the district, particularly in Bhagamandala region, has been hit in view of rains.

Torrential rain, which began in Kodagu from Aug. 26, caused damage in several places. In Madikeri, part of a temple was damaged due to a landslide. It rained heavily in Bhagamandala, Nalaknadu and surrounding areas including Napoklu, Shanthalli, Kundalli, Beedalli, Tholuru Shettalli and many other villages.
