Bengaluru: The Karnataka Janapada Academy on Monday announced its Annual Awards which included Award of Excellence (Expertise) for two artistes, Annual Award for 30 artistes from 30 districts and Book Award for 5 writers.
Announcing the awards here, Academy Chairman Gollahalli Shivaprasad said that K. Chinnappa Gowda of Dakshina Kannada district has been selected for G.S. Paramashivaiah Award of Excellence while Manjunath Bevinakatte of Vijayanagar district has been selected for B.S. Gaddagimath Award of Excellence.
The Annual Awardees include Gurusiddaiah of Mysuru (Tambooripada artiste), Gurubasavaiah of Mandya (Tambooripada), K.C. Devaki of Kodagu (Oortikot), Gowramma, a blind artiste of Chamarajanagar (Sobaanepada), Veerabhadraiah of Hassan (Tatvapada) and Rangaiah of Ramanagara (Pata Kunita).
Five writers have got Book Award for the years 2022 and 2023.
2022 Awardees: B.S. Swamy of Bengaluru for his book ‘Janapada Lekhana Guchha,’ Kuruva Basavaraju of Bengaluru for ‘Bhoutika Vastu, Vijnana, Janapada Mattu Vastu Sangrahalayagala Kurita Lekhanagalu’ and Naga H. Hubli of Jharkhand for his book ‘Adivasi Samskruti’
2023 Awardees: V.N. Shivaramu of Mysuru for his work ‘Janapada-Jaanapada Mattu Kshetrakarya’ and Bengaluru’s Vijayashri Sabarad for her work ‘Sabarada Mattu Janapada.’
The Awards of Excellence carries a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 each, while the Annual and Book Awards carry a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 each.
