Mysuru: As part of the birth centenary of Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar, a lecture series titled ‘Jaya-chamaraja Vichaaradhaare’ focussing on his writings have been organised by Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Ministry of Culture, Regional Centre, Bengaluru.
Renowned Karnatak Classical Singer Vidu. Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar will be delivering a lecture at Bidaram Krishnappa Mandira on Narayana Shastri Road in city on Jan. 11 at 11 am. Entry is free.
Profile: Vidushi Sukanya Prabhakar is a multifaceted artiste of different stature. Being a popular artiste, she has nurtured a lot of students into the field of music. She has been conferred Doctorate by the University of Mysore for her thesis on the contribution of Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar to Karnatak Music. She was also conferred Karnataka Kalashree Award by Karnataka Sangeetha Nrutya Academy for the year 2017-18.
Through Surabhi Ganakala-mandira, she has been imparting music to a lot of students. She has also directed Sangeetha Roopakas featuring the life and contribution of composers which has gained appreciation from connoisseurs. Surabhi Sinchana, a quarterly magazine, is dedicated for music and performing arts.
