JD(S) Supremo H.D. Deve Gowda files nomination from Tumakuru

Tumakuru: JD(S) Supremo and former PM H.D. Deve Gowda filed his nomination as the JD(S)-Congress coalition candidate from Tumakuru Lok Sabha seat at the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Monday.

Deve Gowda had given up his Hassan seat to his grandson Prajwal Revanna, son of PWD Minister H.D. Revanna. The JD(S) Supremo after performing puja at Tumakuru’s famous Anjaneyaswamy Temple, marched in a procession from Junior College Grounds along with thousands of supporters to the DC’s office, where he filed his nomination.

Deve Gowda was accompanied by his wife Chennamma, Deputy Chief Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara, Minister S.R. Srinivas, former Minister T.B. Jayachandra and a host of other leaders.

Nikhil Kumaraswamy files nomination from Mandya

Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, filed his nomination as the JD(S)-Congress coalition candidate from Mandya Lok Sabha seat at Mandya on Monday.

Nikhil is locked in a direct contest with actress Sumalatha, wife of late actor-turned-politician Ambarish, who is contesting as an independent candidate with support from the BJP.

Nikhil on Monday first visited Chamundeshwari Temple atop Chamundi Hill in Mysuru, where he offered special prayers to the deity. Later after arriving in Mandya, Nikhil offered prayers at the famous Kalikamba Temple, from where he set out in huge rally to the DC’s office and submitted his nomination papers to DC N. Manjushree, who is also the District Electoral Officer.

Nikhil was accompanied by his MLA mother Anitha Kumaraswamy, uncle and PWD Minister H.D. Revanna, Mandya District Minister C.S. Puttaraju and senior Congress leader and Water Resources Minister D.K. Shivakumar.

A.Manju files nomination as BJP candidate from Hassan

BJP candidate A. Manju, a former Minister, filed his nomination from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency at Hassan on Monday.

Manju, a Minister in the previous Congress Government headed by Siddharamaiah, had quit Congress last week and joined BJP. Manju, a vocal critic of the JD(S), submitted his nomination papers to Hassan DC Akram Pasha.

He was accompanied by Hassan MLA Preetham Gowda and other party leaders.

Earlier, Manju, along with State BJP President B.S. Yeddyurappa and a host of other party leaders, marched in a huge road show from Hassanamba Kalakshetra to the DC’s office, amidst relentless shouting of slogans hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Prior to the road show, Manju visited Seetha Ramanjaneya Temple at Hassan and offered special prayers to the deity. He later visited a Pourakarmika family and performed padapuja to Pourakarmika couple Chandru and Ashwini.
