Job Mela: 436 candidates out of 580 get placements

July 30, 2019

Mysuru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi established Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK) for the benefit of jobless who are both graduates and non-graduates under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), which is a flagship programme of the PM, said Arpita Simha, wife of MP Pratap Simha.

She was speaking after inaugurating ‘Rojgar Mela’ (Job Fair) organised by Excelus, National Skill Development Corporation and PMKVY at the PMKK office in Yelwal Bus Stand premises on the outskirts of Mysuru, here yesterday and said there is no job big or small and even if a sweeper’s job is done with dignity, the person doing well will be recognised.

There will be a lot of employment opportunities in the near future as Mysuru is now well connected with road, rail and air services. But one should not stick for jobs in Mysuru only and must be prepared to go anywhere for better job opportunities, she said.

District Skill Development Officer Shivanna said that the first Job Mela was held in March but from the experience he had, he found that both the aspirants and the parents wanted jobs only in Mysuru though there were high paying jobs available in other places.

This fixed mindset about Mysuru-centric jobs must go and the candidates must be prepared to go anywhere for better prospects and job growth, he advised.

Nearly 25 companies participated in the 3rd  Rojgar Mela.

The first Job Fair was held in 2018 March where 464 participated and there were 274 placements; in the second Job Mela held in Jan.2019 at the same PMKK venue, there were 500 aspirants with 352 placements and in today’s  Fair 580 aspirants had registered out of which 436 were placed in different companies.
