K.R. Hospital contract employees demand minimum wages

September 5, 2017

Mysuru: Members of Karnataka Government Hospital and Medical College non-Clinical and other Contract Employees Association submitted a memorandum to K.R. Hospital Medical Superintendent urging the Government to pay minimum wages to employees working in contract at K.R. Hospital and Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI).

The members alleged that more than 150 employees were working on contract at the Institute and Hospital under non-clinical category as Ayahs, Security personnel, Lab Technicians, Data Entry Operators and Office Assistants for the last 10 years or more. They pointed out that such  employees were being paid meagre wages with no statutory benefits like PF and ESI.

They contended that contract employees at Chaluvamba Hospital were being paid minimum wages for the last four months and hence urged the authorities to extend such facility to contract employees at K.R. Hospital and MMC&RI.

State Association President M.B. Naganna Gowda, Vice- President Srikanth Mahaguna, Advisor Abhigowda and Convenor Anand were present.
