K.R. Hospital Speciality OPDs shifted to Jayadeva Block

February 28, 2019

Mysuru:  The super speciality OPD (Out Patient Department) units of Cardiology, Nephrology, Urology, Oncology, Plastic Surgery and Endocrinology, which were functioning at the K.R. Hospital, has been shifted to the IPD-OPD New Block which earlier housed the branch of Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research. The super speciality units were inaugurated at the old Jayadeva Block on Sunday by MMC&RI Dean and Director Dr.C.P. Nanjaraj. Heads of the Department Dr. Dinesh, Dr. Prakash, Dr. Niranjan, Dr. Chandrashekar and Dr. Rajesh (Neurology) and RMO Dr. Rajesh were present.

Speaking to Star of Mysore here this morning K.R. Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. M. Srinivas said that after Jayadeva Institute shifted to its own building on KRS Road, the place was lying vacant and as the pressure on the OPDs in the super speciality units increased it was decided to shift them to the Jayadeva Block. The OPDs of all the Departments are situated on the ground floor of the five-storey Jayadeva Block and in the first floor the Operation Theatre (OT) of the super speciality units will be housed. The PWD has been asked to give the estimate and once it is approved the work on OTs will begin shortly, he said.

Apart from the OPD, an intensive care unit (ICU) for the Department of Emergency Medicine will also be functioning soon. The idea of having all the speciality OPDs in one place will benefit the patients as they need not run from one place to another, unlike in K.R. Hospital where they were all functioning in wherever the rooms were available that was causing a lot of inconvenience.

However, the super speciality hospital is being built on the campus of PKTB Sanatorium on KRS Road. Once the hospital is ready it will be shifted to the new campus. Meanwhile, the super speciality OPDs will function at the new block, he said.
