Mysuru: The countdown has begun for Dasara-2024 and the District Administration has started its preparations to organise a systematic and people-friendly Dasara. The Children’s Dasara (Makkala Dasara) this year is slated to be held at Kalamandira in the city from Oct. 5 to 7.

Children’s Dasara will showcase many special events like ‘Kalathon’ and awareness on Self-Defence, along with traditional Fashion Show, Comedy Show and Interaction on Science. Children’s Dasara will also shed light on issues like children’s rights in education, girl child’s safety and cyber security.

‘Kalathon,’ with the participation of more than 1,000 high school students to promote and encourage girls education, will be taken out from the premises of Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple near Mysore Palace North Gate on Oct.5 and will culminate at Old DC’s Office via D. Devaraj Urs Road. ‘Kalathon Jatha’ will accompanied by various folk troupes.

Meanwhile, sports competitions for children will be held at Maharaja’s College Grounds from 9.30 am to 5 pm.

On Oct.6, an Education Exhibition will be inaugurated at 9.30 am. Many interesting programmes like Science Drama by students and Cyber Safety Awareness by Cyber Investigation Trainer Lingaraju and a Dance presentation depicting the tradition of Mysore Wadiyars are some of the many programmes that will be held on Oct.6, said DDPI Javaregowda.

On Oct.7, various events will be held from 9.30 am to 5 pm. Cultural programme by the students of Rangarao School for the Specially Abled and Tibetan Dance by Bylakuppe students are among them.. The valedictory of Children’s Dasara will be held at 3 pm.

All taluk students accommodated

“Students of all taluks of Mysuru district have been given a chance to showcase their talent in this year’s Children’s Dasara. As many as 45 students from H.D. Kote, 50 from Hunsur, 40 from K.R. Nagar, 346 from Mysuru North, 30 from Nanjangud, 419 from Mysuru South, 45 students from Periyapatna and 25 Scouts cadets from T. Narasipur taluk will participate,” said Shobha, Nodal Officer of Children’s Dasara Sub-Committee.
