Mysore/Mysuru: Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi inaugurated the Kannada Book Fair organised by the Department at the University Oval Grounds near the Old DC office here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the Dasara Book Fair will present a whole range of Kannada books including those on Folklore, Literature, Yakshagana, Theatre, Music, Dance, Sculptures etc.
Pointing out that the books are being sold at a discounted price during the fair, he maintained that the Government is responsive to the demands of Kannada publishers.
Noting that the Government has understood the plight of Kannada book publishers, he said he will discuss the issue with senior officials on how to come to the aid of publishers.
Later, the Minister went around the book stalls set up by University of Mysore Prasaranga and Samvahana Prakashana.
Folk singer N. Basavaiah and team rendered folk songs on the occasion. Kannada and Culture Department Secretary Dr. Manjula, Director Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti, K.B. Kiran Singh, Publishers D.N. Lokappa, Samskruti Subramanya, Medical writer Dr. V. Lakshminarayan and others were present.
